Government of India declared whole Kashmir as Agri Expo

crores for the five years.
Ten Districts of State have been declared as Agri Expo Zone of Walnuts with outlay of Rs.
36.93 crores with GOI assistance of Rs. 18.61 crores
The Scheme envisages integrated development of Horticulture through capacity enhancement,
investment in post harvest infrastructure and value addition by promoting the processing
Industries besides promoting exports of apple & walnuts
The Memorandum of Understanding for AEZ (Apple) was signed on 18.3.2002 at Sopore between
Mr. M.S.Pandit Financial Commissioner Agri Production Department and Mr. Anil Swaroop,
Chairman APEDA
Memorandum of Understanding for AEZ Walnut was signed on 11.5.2002 at Hotel Hari Niwas
Palace Jammu by Mr. Mumtaz Afzal, Secretary to Govt., Agri. Prod. Department on behalf of
J&K Government and Chairman APEDA on behalf of Govt. of India
